Westfield Foodie Author Lauren Weiss Named Columnist of the Month at The Alternative Press!

It is a delicious experience to reach a goal and exceed my expectations. When I started writing this blog, it was really for me, as a way to discipline myself to meet deadlines and write regularly. When I started writing for The Alternative Press, I knew I could reach a bigger audience.

TAP editor Mike Shapiro announced in October that the hyperlocal online newspaper would designate a Columnist of the Month each month to drive viewers to the site. My competitive juices began to flow and I wanted this award. I came in second place in October, and was determined to take the prize in November. I posted, I tweeted, I shared, I linked and I marketed my article about food blogging like crazy. It worked. Yesterday it was announced that I was the November Columnist of the Month. I earned this merit based designation by bringing over 730 unique viewers to the site.
