D in N. Caldwell: My friends parents need a suggestion for a lunch place in Westfield not too far off parkway. They'll be stopping around your exit at lunch time on a Saturday. Lmk, thanks!
WF: My favorite lunch places are Limani (seafood with a Greek influence and a great make your own salad menu) - and Mojave Grill (Southwestern). There is a Turning Pointe that just opened last month that everyone is raving about but haven't been to personally. Also if they are here after January 12, they can try our newest restaurant that I am very excited about: Wild Greens. They will feature large, chopped salads from a huge menu of pick your own toppings - like D&B when we worked in the city (Ironically it's in the old Cosi spot, our other favorite NYC lunch place!) Asian Fusion has inventive sushi and Feast Catering has great salads, soups & paninis - but both of these are small and seats are not guaranteed. And Clyne & Murphy is still one of my faves, they make a great turkey reuben. There's a place called Xocolatz that everyone loves but I think it's a B+. I"m recommending it because everyone loves to go there, but I have a hard time raving about an upscale salad eatery where the waiter did not know what "red wine vinaigrette" meant. If they want good spicy Thai, try Thailand Restaurant in Clark which is on Central Ave. right off the Parkway.
Aunt E: I would add Vicki's Diner which is filled with old fashioned, old town ambiance. It's just comfort food, great Belgian waffles!
WF: Agreed on Vicki's! I like their tuna melt and they do eggs really well.
Aunt E: Forgot my favorite place for lunch, Xocolatz on Elmer Street, best salads. I love the grilled shrimp with mangos, a sweet dressing salad, sometimes it is not on the menu at lunch but they will make it if you ask, the pecan or other nut coated baked chicken on salad, and they also make a delicious hamburger!
So there you have it! What are your favorite places to lunch in Westfield?
